Cultural exchange

In partnership with the sister city of Carrickfergus, Northern Ireland, a group of students from Danville soon will be leaving Kentucky while their counterparts from County Antrim arrive in the Bluegrass as part of a cultural exchange.

In the inaugural exchange between the cities, Danville students Ellie McMann, Lilli Hall, Chloe Strysick, Tristan Harris, Londyn Jackson, Max Germann and Kira Pusateri will leave for Ireland on July 21 and will stay with their host families for nine days in an opportunity to immerse themselves in Irish culture.

They, along with seven exchange students from Carrickfergus, will arrive back in Danville on July 30,. accompanied by exchange coordinators Jane Dewey and Matthew Hallock.

There will be a welcome event at 4 p.m. July 31 at the Boyle County Public Library.

The Welcome to Danville Dessert will include traditional music, a welcome by local officials and presentations by students from both sides of the “pond.
