Danville’s emerging culinary scene will soon be on display with the addition of a food and walking tour by a recently opened Lexington-based company conducting similar tours there.

Bites of the Bluegrass is operated by Erin Goins, who started food and walking tours in downtown Lexington earlier this year. Tours there begin at the Lexington Visitor Center and include stops at several fantastic eateries. Goins shares some of the city’s interesting history along the way.

“I went on one of Erin’s tours in Lexington earlier this summer and thought it would be a great addition to visitor attractions we already have here in Danville, which is why I asked her about developing this food tour for our downtown area,” said Kendall Clinton, executive director of the CVB. “Even local residents can enjoy discovering the restaurants on the tour if they’ve not been there before and maybe learn some new stories about the town’s history.”

Beginning Aug. 27, Goins will expand her tour company to Boyle County, offering the Danville Walking Food Tour every other Saturday from 2-5 p.m.

“We are so excited to be offering a food tour in Danville,” Goins said. “This beautiful city is filled with incredible history and delicious local flavors, so when Kendall Clinton brought up a food tour for Danville, I jumped right on it! I’m so happy to be part of connecting locals and visitors to the city’s past and the dedicated local chefs that help make it so special here.”

The tours include small-plate food tastings at five different downtown Danville restaurants and stories along the way about some of Danville’s interesting history. Tours will begin at the Danville-Boyle County Convention and Visitors Bureau office, located in the Goldsmith House at Constitution Square located at 134 S. Second St.
