The centerpiece of the Stephen R. Powell Memorial Garden arrived on Centre’s campus Thursday afternoon, marking the site where the 25-foot sculpture will stand in tribute to the late Centre art professor and world-renowned glass artist.

Finishing glass touches will be added to the frame during the next month, culminating with a dedication ceremony during the College’s Homecoming weekend, Oct. 15.

A project overseen by one of Powell’s former glass students, Brook White ’91, the memorial garden will feature the walk-through sculpture, as well as an outdoor classroom amphitheater.
