Emma Lucy Haydon went home to be with the Lord, August 19, 2022. She was born in Mercer County, Ky., December 15, 1934, daughter of the late Charles D. and Irene Christenson Carr. Emma graduated from Rose Hill School. She and Donald were married and moved to Danville in 1957 and they joined Gethsemane Baptist Church. Emma has been an active volunteer in the church and a member for 65 years. She had been a Sunday School teacher for the 4 and 5 year-olds and is a member of the Open Door Sunday School Class. Emma enjoyed crocheting dish cloths and giving them away. She worked at Genesco for 41 years and Red Wing Shoes for five years until she retired. Emma was predeceased by two nephews, Paul Kevin Jenkins and William Donald Jenkins and a brother-in-law, Dudley Jenkins. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Donald Haydon; her sister, Leslie Doris Jenkins; a brother-in-law, Darrol (Carol) Haydon; two sisters-in-law, Doris Warner and Juanita Faye (Marlin) Scrogham; a niece, Penny Lee Gilpin and two nieces-in-law, Marcia Jenkins and Fawn Jenkins; two great nephews, Dr. Aaron Kyle Jenkins and William Charles Jenkins (Anna Geiger); a great niece, Lyndsie Murray Jenkins and several great-great nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Tuesday, August 23rd from 5 to 8 p.m. at Gethsemane Baptist Church. The funeral service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, August 24th at Gethsemane Baptist Church. Rev Kyle Stachewicz and Rev. Kevin Hampton will officiate. Burial will be in Springhill Cemetery, Harrodsburg. Pallbearers will be Hershell McKinley, Marrison Bottom, Earl Pinkston, Kyle Bailey, Lyle Evans and Aaron Jenkins. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Open Door Sunday School Class.
