The West T. Hill community theater has announced its play schedule for the 2022-23 season.

After two years of being scaled back due to Covid-19, the theater has a full schedule with minimal pandemic restrictions.

The season starts with “Inherit the Wind” by Lawrence & Lee with shows on October 14-16 and 21-23. The play is a courtroom drama about the 1925 Scopes “Monkey” Trial, which argued whether a teacher could teach Darwin’s theory of evolution to a high school science class.

“We are excited about our first full season since our dealings with Covid,” West T. Hill Managing Director Karen Logue said. “Our opening show is a play we opened with when we occupied our current theater building 30 years ago, nearly to the date. It is a classic drama, probably more relevant today than ever.”

This Christmas the theater will be collaborating with Boyle County Schools for “Scrooge! The Musical” by Leslie Bricusse. Students in the new Boyle County Arts Academy will be auditioning for parts alongside other community members. The play will be held at the new Performing Arts Center at Boyle County Middle School.

“This will be a large community effort and may prove to be an annual event,” Logue said. “Performing in the new Boyle County Performing Arts center will afford our community an opportunity to see and experience this wonderful new venue.”

The rest of the season has comedies; including a comedy about the pandemic called “Hollerwood on the High Seas,” where Babe Dean buys a cruise ship, but the whole crew quits because of the pandemic. She hires people from her town of Random, Kentucky to be the new crew.
