Candidate forums on the horizon

A host of candidate forums sponsored by the Danville-Boyle County Chamber of Commerce are on the schedule to help voters stay up to date on who is running for which office and what candidates for those respective offices have to say on topics important to voters in Boyle County.

The first forum is Tuesday for candidates for Boyle County Magistrate from districts 3, 4 and 6 on Sept. 20 at the Inter-County Energy Cooperative at 1009 Hustonville Road in Danville.

Candidates for District 3 are Barry Harmon and Phillip Sammons; Jason Cullen and Jerry Leber on the ballot in District 4; and District 6 candidates are Steve Sleeper and John Caywood.

District 1 and 2 candidates will gather at the UK Extension Office

Running for District 1 are Tom Ellis and Terry Hogue. Paula Jean Bodner and Tina Lynn are running for the District 2 seat.

Candidates for Boyle County Judge-Executive Howard Hunt and Trille Bottom as well as candidates for State Representative – Daniel Elliott and Elaine Wilson-Reddy – will convene Oct. 18 at Danville High School’s Gravely Hall.

Finally, candidates for Danville Mayor and Danville City Commission will be at the Norton Center on Oct. 25.

Running for mayor are James Atkins and James Hunn. The city commission ballot includes Kevin Caudill, Shawn Moore, Steve Southerland, Rick Serres, Jennie Hollon, Joe Lamkin, Donna Peek and Charles Singleton.

Each event will run from 7 to 9 p.m.
