Larry Ray Holman, 76, of Lancaster, passed away October 27, 2022 at Baptist Health in Lexington. He was born July 11, 1946 in Fayette County, Kentucky to the late Raymond and Nadine Twyman Holman. Larry is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Dixie Barker Holman. Larry owned and operated Danville Wholesale Tire for over 28 years and Lancaster Wholesale Tire for several years. He took an active role in his community with the Pioneer Opportunity Workshop, a member of the Advisory Board for the Bank of Danville, charter member of the Boyle County Fair Board, and a Kentucky Colonel, just to name a few. Larry was a life member of the NRA and was an avid fisherman and hunter. Larry and Dixie loved camping and camped for over 40 years at Wolfe Creek Dam. He was a family man, who was so proud of his family and a faithful member of Lancaster Baptist Church. Surviving is his wife, Dixie; sons, Roger Woods (Vicki) of Nicholasville and Eddie Woods (Ginny) of Lancaster; a daughter, Angie Preston (George) of Lancaster; daughter in law, Tammy Woods; grandchildren, Anthony Phoenix, Jeremy Woods, Tyler Woods, Cameron Woods, Misty Woods, Windy Woods, Allyssa Ball, Lela Brock, Derrick Scofield, Brian Scofield, and Delynn Morris; twelve great-grandchildren, his dog, Pixie and numerous nieces, nephews and family members whom he loved dearly. He is preceded in death by his parents, a son, Alan Woods, twin brother, Jerry Holman and older brother, Dennis Holman.
Funeral services will be 11am Tuesday, November 1, 2022 at Lancaster Baptist Church with Bro. Kent Clark, Dr. Harold Best and Pastor Matt Cooke officiating. Burial will follow in Lancaster Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-9pm on Monday, October 31, 2022 at Lancaster Baptist Church. Pallbearers will be Anthony Phoenix, Jeremy Woods, Tyler Woods, Cameron Woods, Leroy Patterson, George Preston, and Chris Butner. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Sparks, Gary Sparks, Charlie Perry, Tommy Gill, Horace Huffman, Gene Worthington, Buddy Maupin, Joe Barker, Jackie Powers, Greg Pelphrey, Larry Yantz and Johnny Hukle.
