Boyle County to be featured in upcoming Downstream episode

Boats, Brass and Brazilian Rum. An upcoming episode of Downstream, educational program about Kentucky, will highlight some of central Kentucky’s little-known treasures including Danville and the Dix River that forms Herrington Lake, home to Kentucky’s first reservoir that powers not only the surrounding areas through hydroelectricity, but ignites the hearts of boaters, kayakers and jet ski enthusiasts.

Along the way viewers will hear and see the spectacle that is the Great American Brass Band Festival; visit the Blue Rook Distillery and sample some regional cuisine and a “smoked” old-fashion at Copper and Oak.

So, grab your favorite cocktail, turn on some bluegrass, and enjoy the beauty of central Kentucky.

You can be the first to see the Danville/Boyle County episode when it premieres on Saturday, Nov. 5 at 5 p.m. at the Norton Center on the campus of Centre College. The premiere is free to attend, so come for the viewing and then head downtown afterward for dinner and maybe drinks. You might even see some of the folks who were featured in the show.

The CVB will have an ASL interpreter on stage for anybody who comes to watch the show and is deaf or hard of hearing.

With more than 90,000 miles of freshwater lakes, streams and rivers in Kentucky, this Emmy award-winning travel adventure show is all about Kentucky’s liquids and has aired 11 30-minute episodes highlighting the many recreational bodies of water in Kentucky along with distilleries, breweries, and wineries.

Funding for this Downstream episode was provided by Mercer County Tourism, Bullitt County Tourism, Kentucky Lake Tourism, Danville/Boyle County Tourism, The Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority.

The Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority granted approval to Prosper Media Group, Inc. for incentives under the Kentucky Entertainment Incentive program for production of its Emmy-Award winning series, Downstream, featuring stories from Boyle and Bullitt counties.

The content will air on PBS affiliate WKET, as well as local cable networks and on-demand distribution via digital channels such as YouTube, Vimeo, IMDB, etc. Programming is also available on DVD upon request.
