Boyle County captured its third consecutive state football championship Friday night, defeating Corbin 32-26 in the Class 4A final at Kroger Field.

Boyle (13-2) ran for 270 of their 363 offensive yards and stopped Corbin (14-1) twice in the fourth quarter to finish off its title run.

Senior defensive lineman and UK commit Tommy Ziesmer scored on a 7-yard run with 9:34 remaining to break a 26-all tie and put the Rebels on top to stay.

The Boyle County defense made two stops after that, forcing a punt on the ensuing drive and stopping the Redhounds on fourth down at the Boyle 35-yard line with 3:25 remaining to clinch the victory.

Sage Dawson rushed for 109 yards, Avery Bodner ran for 100 and Montavin Quisenberry ran for 54 for the Rebels. Dawson and Bodner threw touchdown passes, Dawson and Cooper Brummett caught TD passes and Bodner and Quisenberry ran for TDs.

Boyle’s defense allowed 299 yards, but gave up only 30 yards in the fourth quarter.

It was the 11th championship for Boyle, tying the Rebels with crosstown rival Danville for sixth all-time in Kentucky. The only schools that have won more are Trinity 27, Highlands 23, Beechwood 17, Mayfield 12 and St. Xavier 13.
