For more than a quarter of a century, the Ephraim McDowell Health Care Foundation has been dedicated to improving the health of those in the communities that Ephraim McDowell Health (EMH) serves.  The Foundation provides philanthropic support allowing EMH to provide the most advanced, comprehensive and compassionate care to its patients. It is also involved in community outreach initiatives to support and promote the health of those in our communities.

“We are very pleased to be able to offer three AEDs to organizations in our communities,” said Tammy Meade Ensslin, General Counsel for Ephraim McDowell Health and the Foundation.  “According to statistics, AED usage, when combined with CPR, saves lives.  The survival rate of a patient defibrillated within the first three minutes of a cardiac arrest approaches 95%.”

Ensslin noted that the three AEDs that are being given to community organizations were purchased, in part, by using donations the Foundation received during its recent GivingTuesday campaign.

Organizations may obtain an application to apply for an AED by calling (859) 239-2341.
