Annabel Sisk Girard, 82

Annabel Sisk Girard, 82, longtime resident of Danville, KY, passed away on December 13, 2022 after a long illness. Annabel was born in 1940 in Tahoma, MD to Dudley and Mary Ellen (Byrd) Sisk and grew up in Mount Sterling and Lexington, KY.
She was a graduate of Lafayette High School, class of 1958, in Lexington and the University of Kentucky. It was at UK that she met her husband, Charles “Chuck” Arthur Girard. They were married on December 21, 1969 and built their family in Danville, KY. She worked as alumni secretary and teacher at Sayre School in Lexington throughout the 1960s. Annabel spent most of her working career (1979-2006) at the Advocate Messenger newspaper of Danville, KY where she covered the local government and penned her column “Around Town.”
During her time in Danville, she was a member of the Little Garden Club, she served on the boards of the Boyle County Public Library and the Boyle County Cooperative Extension Service District, as well as helped to start the Friends of the Library group. She was an active member of the American Association of University Women.
As a youth, she loved the outdoors and horseback riding. She played piano and was an avid reader. She loved traveling, especially to Paris, France.
She is preceded in death by her husband Chuck and her nephew, Kori Sisk. She is survived by her son Charles Dudley (Stella) Girard; her daughter Mary Ashby (Jerry Adkins) Girard; and two grandchildren, Veronica Annabel Girard and Arturo Constantine Borges; her brother, Dudley Byrd (Barbara) Sisk of GA; and her niece, Leslie Sisk (Wolfgang) Enneaker of GA.
Walden Funeral Home of Perryville, KY is handling the arrangements.
