Perryville puts in handicap accessible picnic tables along Chaplin River

The City of Perryville received a grant to put in new park benches and picnic tables along the Chaplin River downtown, including handicap accessible picnic tables.

Grant writers Fire Chief Anthony Young and Mayor Carlos Miller had applied for a Kentucky Energy and Environment Cabinet Crumb Rubber / Tire Derived Products Grant in the amount of $8,000. The city received this grant which provided funding for the picnic tables and park benches.

The project is designed to enhance the area along the river to encourage tourism, dining opportunities, economic development, and encourage physical activities for residents and visitors alike.

The Kentucky Energy and Environmental Cabinet Crumb Rubber /Tire Derived Products Grant promotes the use of recycled Kentucky waste tires in the form of crumb rubber or other tire derived products.
