Katherine Riley “Mammie” Powell, 87, of Junction City passed away on Monday, January 23, 2023. Born October 5, 1935, she was the daughter of the late H.B. and Pauline Mullins Riley. Mammie attended the Worldstown Church of God. She was a selfless, God-fearing woman. She believed the Bible was the word of God. She had a way of touching others and could share the gospel with anyone. Mammie loved to listen to WDFB. She loved her family and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lecky Wood Powell, Sr.; brother, Clarence Riley; sisters, Hazel Stewart and Virginia Murphy; and son-in-law, Eddie Leach; and Guyla Richardson, a special child whom she raised. Survivors include 5 sons: Lecky Wood (Helen) Powell, II, Thomas (Karen) Powell of Harrodsburg, Billy Lynn Powell of NC, Buford Powell of Junction City, and Joe (Billie) Powell of Junction City; 3 daughters: Pauline Leach, Janice Powell, and Sharon (Donnie) Coffman, all of Junction City; 1 brother, Sammy (Mary) Riley of Springfield; 2 sisters, Maydell Whitehouse and Christine Sapp, both of Louisville; 22 grandchildren; and 45 great grandchildren. Visitation is 5-8 pm, Thursday at Worldstown Church of God. Funeral Service will be at 2 pm, Friday at the church with Rev. Lonnie Goodin officiating. Burial is in Junction City Cemetery. Pallbearers are Todd Coffman, Logan Wilson, Dakota Wilson, Lecky Powell, III, Trevor Powell, Billy Powell, Jr., Zachary Powell, Cody Powell, and John Thomas Powell.
