Danville Police responded to a physical domestic at a residence on Center Street at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. Just prior to arrival officers located the involved male party leaving the area in a white 2006 Lexus SUV and conducted a traffic stop around Center Street and Woods Alley.

The driver, identified as Cody Evridge, 29, of Lexington refused to exit the vehicle and began yelling at the officer to shoot him before driving off. Several Danville Police units began to pursue Evridge who traveled east on Lexington Road toward Garrard County.

Officers on scene learned that Evridge assaulted his wife who had a minor bite wound to her head and swelling to the head from being struck. Evridge failed to yield to stop as he crossed into Garrard County where he traveled north on US 27 toward Jessamine County.

Officers determined that Evridge had two active warrants; one for failing to appear out of Fayette County on a charge of using electronic communication system to procure a minor, and one probation violation warrant out of Jefferson County.

Officers on-scene investigating the domestic assault were with the victim as she was able to make phone contact with Evridge. Evridge refused to stop and surrender and made references to having a weapon and committing suicide.

Out of concern for public safety officers continued to pursue Evridge into Jessamine County. The multi county chase proceeded into Fayette County and downtown Lexington.

Evridge maintained speeds close to the speed limit and was not making extreme evasive maneuvers, but on occasion would drive erratically creating a dangerous situation to the public and pursuing officers.

Once in the area of Hamilton Park, Evridge drove through a fence and continued before abandoning his vehicle in the 700 block of Terrace View.

Lexington Police had begun assisting and a search of the area was conducted. Evridge was quickly located by Lexington Police officers and taken into custody without incident.

Custody was turned over to Danville Police and Evridge was transported back to Boyle County and lodged in the Boyle County Detention Center on his two active warrants and the following charges: Assault 2nd Degree (domestic violence), Assault 4th Degree (domestic violence), Felony Fleeing/Evading Police Motor Vehicle, Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree, and numerous traffic offense.

Police from several jurisdictions assisted in the pursuit and apprehension of Evridge and Danville Police, including Kentucky State Police, Boyle County Sheriff’s Office, Garrard County Sheriff’s Office, Jessamine County Sheriff’s Office, Nicholasville Police and Lexington Police.
