Doris Brogle Ayres, 93

Doris Brogle Ayres, 93, of Lancaster, passed away February 4, 2023 in Nicholasville, Kentucky. She was born August 5, 1929 to the late Isaiah and Mattie Edgington Brogle. Mrs. Ayres was married to Harvey L. Ayres for 72 years, 9 months, who preceded her in death, May 2021.

Mrs, Ayres was a lifelong homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt to her family and so many others. She was known for her many meals that she has prepared for her family, extended family, friends and even strangers that walked through her kitchen door. She was an avid gardener, seamstress, and her quilts are in many family and friends homes today. She was a devoted member and Sunday school teacher to the young ladies of Mt. Hebron Baptist Church for 70+ years. She has left a huge Christian heritage to her family, because of her love for her Jesus.Doris is preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Roberta East and a daughter, Angela Allen (Joel), who passed in 2002. She is survived by her children, Belva Sparks Little (Mike) of Lexington, Danny Ayres of Lancaster, Sammy Ayres (Connie) of Winchester, Charlie Ayres (Diana) of Lancaster, Roger Ayres (Priscilla) of Lancaster, and special son in law, Joel Allen (Debbie) of Lancaster; sisters, Dixie Sebastian, Wilma Arnold, Barbara Montgomery, Carolyn Hawkins, and Patricia Reeves; three brothers, WC, Joe and Paul Brogle; sixteen grandchildren, Randy Sparks of Winchester, John Sparks of Paris, Jenny Sparks Green of Winchester, Tara Ayres Abee of Lancaster, Jared Ayres of Lancaster, Andy Allen of Lancaster, Ryan Allen of Danville, Tiffany Allen Wesley of Somerset, Kyle Ayres of Lexington, Heath Ayres of Lancaster, Chase Ayres of Boise, Idaho, Alexis Ayres of Atlanta, Georgia, Faith Ayres Patterson of Lancaster, Luke Ayres of Lancaster, Jacob Ayres of Cleveland, Ohio and Alex Ayres of Lancaster and thirty-four great grandchildren. Funeral services will be 11am Thursday, February 9, 2023 at Mt. Hebron Baptist Church with Bro. Steve Meece and Bro. Jerry Chandler officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Hebron Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, February 8, 2023 from 5-8pm at the church. Pallbearers will be Danny, Sammy, Charlie, and Roger Ayres, Mike Little and Joel Allen. Honorary pallbearers will be her Grandchildren.
