Marion Dee Bastin, 81, of Stanford, KY passed away at his home on Sunday, February 5, 2023. Born on March 9, 1941 in Stanford to the late Lawrence and Edna Mae Young Bastin. He is the widower to the late June King Gover Bastin. He was a member of Stanford Baptist Church. Marion graduated from Stanford High School in 1961. He worked for Frito-Lay as a salesman for 35 years until his retirement. After his retirement he spent 10 years working with his late wife, June King Bastin at the Lincoln County Recycle Center. He loved golf, repairing golf clubs, cars, and visiting Builder’s Supply and Coleman’s in Stanford, and often had a toothpick with him. Marion was a wonderful storyteller and jokester, he was the kind of person who never met a stranger. If he didn’t know you, he had to ask “Whats your name?” and “Where ya from?”. He was a member of the Lincoln County Fairboard and the former Dix River Country Club. He loved his grandchildren dearly.
Survivors include two children, Martha Bastin (Denise) of Crab Orchard, KY and Martin Bastin (Angela) of Stanford; five siblings, Hazel Lark, Gary Bastin (Gayle), Peggy Jenkins (Butch), Deborah Gamble (Keith) and Barry Bastin (Lori); two grandchildren, Chase Mitchell Bastin and Kelley King Bastin; a special friend, Van Munford; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, June Bastin; parents, Lawrence and Edna Mae Bastin.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, February 8, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Spurlin Funeral Home in Stanford, KY. The funeral service will be on Thursday, February 9, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. with Bro. Justin Carter officiating. Burial will follow at Crab Orchard Cemetery.
