Deputies arrest Danville man in stabbing incident

NEWS RELEASE

Deputies from the Boyle County Sheriff’s Department were dispatched to a residence on Kentucky Avenue in Junction City in response to a call about a stabbing. Deputies responded and located a male subject lying on the floor with knife wounds. Deputies were able to detain the suspect, identified as Travis Layport, who was still on scene.

Deputies learned through the investigation that an altercation had taken place between Travis and the victim prior to the stabbing. Deputies learned that Travis had removed a belt from his person to strike the victim and when doing so it also struck a female causing a laceration on her leg. Travis then went to the kitchen to grab a knife and stabbed the victim 3 times.

The stab victim was transported to Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center via EMS for two stab wounds to the back and one to the face. The victim was later transported to the University of Kentucky Hospital.

Deputies arrested Layport, who was lodged in the Boyle County Detention Center and charged with the following – assault 1st degree and assault 4th degree.

The case is still under investigation and more charges are possible.
