This week’s pets are Jolene and Sweet Pea, who have different backgrounds but a shared goal: to go home soon.

Five-year-old Sweet Pea was found roaming around town in poor condition. She recently had puppies, which must have been hard on her emaciated frame, and her head looks big because she’s underweight. Sweet Pea will grow into that melon with a regular, nutritious diet!

Sweet Pea is loving, calm, and affectionate, plus she’s an expert-level Velcro dog with zero interest in exploring the yard. Sweet Pea leans into people for pets and snuggles with adoration in her eyes. Don’t you dare stop the TLC, though: she’ll tap you with her paw to remind you of your obligations. Give Sweet Pea the love and life she deserves. It will be worth it!

If you’re looking for a rockstar, look no further than Jolene. She shines in Dogs Playing for Life playgroups because she adapts her playstyle to any dog: sometimes Jolene is rowdy, tumbling with her friends. Other times she likes to run and chase, and sometimes she simply sniffs all the things. Jolene takes correction well and can play with her doggie friends for hours.

Jolene is a pretty little gal with a gorgeous brindle coat, just over 30 pounds, and still considered a puppy at a year old. Her hearty zest for life brings a smile to your face, and even better: Jolene smiles back! She’s more than a playgroup star; Jolene adores people and kids, too. She’s friendly, fun, and happy and will make an excellent companion for any family.

Both girls are fixed, vaccinated, and microchipped. It’s Volunteer Appreciation Week, and Danville-Boyle County Humane Society (DBCHS) wants to celebrate its dedicated volunteers with a Volunteer Appreciation lunch on Thursday, April 20, 2023. Stop by from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. to enjoy free food from Piggin’ Out, good conversation, and order an official volunteer shirt, compliments of DBCHS. Current and potential volunteers are welcome.

DBCHS needs people to lead Dogs Playing for Life playgroups, fosters, and community outreach at events like the Farmers Market, Earth Day, Doggie Dash, etc. DBCHS is especially eager to secure a volunteer coordinator.
