Danville Police responded May 21 to an overdose on Onstott Drive. Danville Fire and Boyle County EMS were attempting to render aid to 23-year-old Alan Herbert of Danville.

Herbert refused assistance and created a disturbance with emergency responders. Herbert became aggressive with fire personnel creating the potential for assault. Danville Police officers intervened and were forced to take Herbert to the ground and into custody.

Herbert was transported to Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center for precautionary purposes and to receive medical treatment prior to being taken to the Boyle County Detention Center.

Once at EMRMC, Herbert continued his combative behavior and was aggressive toward Ephraim staff. While being restrained by police, Herbert bit one officer on the forearm causing injury.

Herbert was eventually restrained and medically treated. Herbert was then transported to the Boyle County Detention Center and lodged on the following charges: Disorderly Conduct 2nd Degree, Resisting Arrest, Assault 3rd Degree, Menacing, and Assault 2nd Degree.

Police respond to burglary call

Danville Police responded to a burglary in progress at 6:38 a.m. on May 24 at Lazer Wash at 550 E. Lexington Ave. Upon arrival, officers located a black 4-door Hyundai passenger car. The vehicle was parked in a grassy area behind a business near Lazer Wash. As officers approached, the vehicle fled the area at a high rate of speed. Officers initially pursued the vehicle, and it continued east on Lexington Road toward Garrard County. The operator of the vehicle was driving erratic, passing in oncoming traffic and creating extreme danger to other motorists. Danville Police notified surrounding counties and elected to terminate the pursuit. Further investigation revealed that the suspect did make entry into the office of Lazer Wash, stealing an undetermined amount of money. The investigation is ongoing by Danville Police.
