John Anthony Smith, 76, of Stanford, KY passed away at his home on Wednesday, June 28, 2023. Born on March 23, 1947 in Lebanon, KY to the late Raphael and Borgia Mann Smith. John loved a good poker game, especially winning a big pot. He looked forward to dancing at Mardi Gras in New Orleans every year where he performed his signature dance move the “look where you point”. It is hard to say what he enjoyed more the hours he spent watching YouTube videos or the time spent telling friends and family about what he watched on YouTube. Either way, YouTube viewing hours will be greatly reduced with his passing. When he wasn’t watching videos he loved watching Kentucky basketball, races on Sunday and hunting for things to buy and sell on Ebay.
Survivors include his wife, Marcia Simpson Smith of Stanford; one daughter, Lea Ann Smith of Ocean Springs, MS; five siblings, Gerry Smith, Jimmy Smith, Tommie Smith, Judy Raikes and Janie Smith; and niece, Dayne Carmicle (Todd).
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raphael and Borgia Smith.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
