Joe Bell Greer, born August 9, 1932, in Danville, KY, passed away August 3, 2024 in Louisville, KY at the age of 91. He graduated from Danville High School in 1950. He was married to his wife, Alice, for 65 years until her death in 2016. He served in the U.S. Army as a Corporal during the Korean War. He was a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service from 1954 until his retirement in 1992. He was a member of Lexington Avenue Baptist Church, Danville, KY where he served as a deacon and Sunday School director for many years. Joe was preceded in death by his father, Flavious Josephus Greer, Jr. (Helen); mother, Hazel Milburn Hiter (Otis); and brother, James Mead Greer. Joe is survived by his son, Mark Greer; daughter, Julie Greer Anderson (Tim); grandson, Peyton Anderson; and his sister, Mary Jane Greer Hubbard (Doug). Visitation will be Monday, August 12, 2024 from 4pm to 6pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals and Receptions, East Louisville Chapel, 235 Juneau Drive Louisville, Kentucky 40243. A celebration of Joe’s life will follow at 6pm at the funeral home. Interment will take place at 1:30pm on Friday, August 16, 2024 at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central, 2501 N Dixie Blvd, Radcliff, KY 40160 with military honors.
