Eleven accomplished girls from Boyle County will perform in the Distinguished Young Women Showcase on Sunday, Aug. 11 at Gravely Hall at Danville High School.
The Distinguished Young Women program recognizes the accomplishments and hard work of the rising high school seniors involved. The competition will begin at 4 p.m. in the theater at Danville High School. Scholarships will be awarded based on each participant’s performance in five categories: scholastics, interview, self-expression, talent, and fitness.
Scholarship aid will also be presented for overall awards and other accomplishments. The showcase is an opportunity to see and support outstanding local students. The winner will go on to represent Boyle County at the state level, which sends a representative to the national program.
Participants in the Class of 2025 are Malia Collins, Londyn Jackson, Bailey Kate Sparks, Kirah Jones, Emilee Beauman, Shalyn Washington, Jayla Berry, Hannah Bischoff, Alexa Howard, Christine Pruyear, and Maya Smith.
Tickets are $10 at the door. Admission supports the Boyle County program, now in its fourth year.
The mission of the Distinguished Young Women program is to empower participants to reach their full potential by providing scholarship opportunities for college as well as personal development to become confident leaders. More information about the organization is available at distinguishedyw.org
