Donate Life High School Challenge promotes organ donation advocacy

Published 2:30 pm Monday, August 19, 2024

This October, high school students across Kentucky are invited to participate in an innovative Donate Life challenge.  The Donate Life High School Challenge aims to engage young minds in a meaningful cause while promoting physical and mental well-being.

The High School Challenge offers a unique opportunity for students from all backgrounds to get involved and create a significant impact in the mission of organ, tissue, and eye donation. Whether part of a sports team, FBLA club, HOSA chapter, or any other high school organization, everyone can participate in activities that promote both personal health and community engagement.

Participants can earn points by creating various activities, community outreach initiatives, and innovative projects to promote the Donate Life mission throughout the month of October. These points will not only contribute towards their team’s overall standing but also towards winning exciting prizes.

The registration deadline is September 13. There will be a mandatory training on September 19, with a Q&A session for at least one representative.

The challenge will go from October 1 to October 31, 2024.

To register your group, visit bit.ly/24HSCEnroll. Participants will receive a toolkit with donation guides and resources, marketing materials, and access to a live training session to kick-start their involvement.

The top-performing groups will have the chance to earn up to $1,000, while a standout teacher/advisor will receive a tablet as a token of appreciation.

“Teachers and students alike have a unique opportunity through the Donate Life High School Challenge to not only showcase their strength and health but also to make a lasting impact in their communities by advocating for organ donation. I encourage all high school groups to participate enthusiastically in this empowering initiative,” said Boyle Circuit Clerk Cortney Shewmaker.

Everyone is invited to unite this October to make a lasting impact with “Power Moves – Strength in Giving!” and advocating for the lifesaving mission of organ donation.
