Bill Brown was born on May 4, 1940 in Eubank, KY to Ira Lee Brown and Undine Mosier Brown. He is survived by his wife Ruth Dee Hundley Brown, his two sons: William (Suzanne) Brown and Michael (Sharyn) Brown; and three grandchildren: Christian Tyler Ruth, Parker Tyndale Brown, and Alexander Shannon Brown. Growing up in Eubank, KY, he enlisted in the US Army Reserve’s 100th Division in 1956 at the age 16 (yes, he may have mis-remembered his age). In 1959, he joined the Southern Railroad as a telegraph operator. Working his way up in the company which later became the Norfolk Southern Railroad, he retired as a company officer after 41 years in Atlanta, GA. After retiring from Norfolk Southern, he did what he truly wanted to do, heading off to the Fulton County Police Academy and becoming a Fulton County Reserve Deputy Sheriff where he served warrants for 13 years, retiring as a Lieutenant. Not busying enough in retirement, he completed his first marathon at age 60, achieved his Private Pilot’s License, and took up sky diving completing 26 jumps. He eventually moved back to Danville in 2013. Through the Railroad years, Railroad moves, and occasional model train set Christmas present, he was an outstanding husband and a wonderful father to his family. A private family service will be held in Bill’s honor. www.preston-pruitt.com
