Daniel Leroy “Danny” Moody was born July 12, 1958 in Garden City, Michigan. He was the son of the late Dean Arthur Moody and the late Barbara Ellen (Cheatham) Moody Caton, and husband of the late Denise Mae Brewsaugh Moody. Danny died at age 66 on Saturday, August 31, 2024 surrounded by his family.
Danny was a 1976 graduate of Marion County High School. He worked for Curtis Construction, farmed, and raised tobacco and cattle. He was a licensed Journeyman Plumber. Later, he and Denise traveled throughout the Midwest as a married couple working in the fiberoptic telecommunications field. He also worked in Danville for the public schools.
Danny loved the farm that he and Denise owned. He planted apple, pear, dogwood, and redbud trees, and even a sequoia that tried to grow along the creek. He treasured the corn and beans he and Denise grew, and enjoyed giving away bushels of tomatoes and watermelon to his neighbors. Danny and Denise canned green beans, tomatoes, and tomato juice by the hundreds of quarts over the years and gave it away at Christmas. Danny also loved playing frisbee with his dog Blue and riding his motorcycle with friends in the surrounding counties and down by the Fork.
Danny loved his family and spending time with his wife, his son Jason and daughter-in-law Ashley, and his sister Linda, along with Denise’s family. He loved being “Uncle Danny” to the children of Denise’s sisters and brother. When his grandson Case was born, he took up the role of Grandad with joy.
Danny was pre-deceased by his parents, Dean Arthur Moody and Barbara Ellen (Cheatham) Caton and grandparents John William Cheatham and Ruth Daugherty Cheatham, of Gravel Switch and Daniel Leroy Moody and Bernice Ormes Moody of Dearborn, Michigan. He is survived by his son Jason Moody and daughter-in-law Ashley Moody; his grandson, Case Daniel Moody, his sister Linda Moody and sister-in-law Elizabeth Say; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service, in celebration of Danny and Denise’s life, will be Tuesday, September 3, 2024 at Walden Funeral Home beginning at 2 P.M. with Bro. John David Lane officiating. A Visitation will be held before hand starting at 1 P.M. until the time of the service.
