Man being chased by police jumps through glass window

On Sunday, Aug. 25, around 4:30 a.m., Danville Police were called to the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center for a person in the parking lot suspected of being under the influence.

The man was identified as the 39-year-old Victorino Gonzalez-Zapata of Lancaster. When the police approached him, he allegedly fled on foot, ignoring police orders to stop. He ran north past Main Street to Fourth Street.

According to police, he proceeded to jump through the glass windows in the storefront of Sherwin Williams, causing significant damage.  He is alleged to have emerged from the broken window where he was arrested after a brief struggle. He was transported to the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center where he was treated for minor injuries and being under the influence of suspected narcotics.

Gonzalez-Zapata was charged with criminal mischief first-degree, fleeing/evading police on foot, resisting arrest, criminal trespassing, and public intoxication.

Danville Police were assisted on the scene by the Boyle County Sheriff’s Office.
