Boyle girls advance to 2A soccer semifinals

The Boyle County girls advanced to the final rounds of the Kentucky 2A Championships girls soccer tournament for the first time with a 3-1 victory over Murray in a semi-state game Saturday at Bowling Green.

Ellery Taylor scored all three goals for Boyle (8-3-1) in its semi-state win at Warren East, which marked the first time the Lady Rebels had gotten past the sectional round in the 2A competition.

Boyle will face Johnson Central in the semifinals at 1 p.m. Saturday at Apollo. Johnson Central advanced with a 2-1 victory over Mercer County.

The Boyle-Johnson winner will face Christian Academy of Louisville or Estill County for the championship at noon Sunday.

Danville will compete in the All “A” Classic boys soccer tournament this weekend.

The Admirals are in the eight-team statewide tournament for the first time since 2018, when they reached the finals.

Danville (8-3) will play Louisville Holy Cross at 1 p.m. Saturday at Louisville Collegiate. If the Admirals advance, they will face Bishop Brossart or Collegiate in a semifinal at 8 p.m. Saturday for a berth in the 1 p.m. Sunday final.

Danville defeated Frankfort 2-1 on Sept. 7 in its All “A” sectional game to reach the round of eight.
