On Sept. 14, Danville’s Constitution Square was packed with more than 7,000 visitors for the Constitution Square Festival, the highest turnout the annual festival has received since its return in 2022 after more than a decade-long hiatus.
“We are very pleased with the festival,” said Danville-Boyle County Arts Commission Executive Director Mimi Becker. “It brought so many elements of our community together, participating in different ways. The support of Whitaker Bank proves how important partnerships between businesses and community organizers are as over 7,000 people came out to shop, socialize, and enjoy our beautiful Park and downtown.”
With the high turnout, the festival’s 80 vendors reported record sales and community organizations ran out of material for booth visitors.
“Part of the turnout was that the festival coincided with Centre College’s parents weekend; we co-promoted both events,” said Danville-Boyle County Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Jeff Jewel. “We saw a lot of Centre students and their parents there. I met people from all over the Midwest, and everyone was really enjoying themselves. The vendors, musicians, and artists were happy with the turnout.”
With the success of the collaboration, next year’s festival will continue the combined effort.
“We have already set it up,” Jewel said. “I want to thank everyone who has supported us, there are a lot of organizations who help us pull it off.”
The festival was organized by the Danville-Boyle County Arts Commission, the Danville-Boyle County Chamber of Commerce, and the Farmers’ Market. Destination Danville, Boyle County Fiscal Court, and the City of Danville provided additional support. Whitaker Bank was the festival’s presenting sponsor.
