The Boyle County Public Library offers free activities, special events, online resources, and numerous services for the community. Programs often include storytimes, crafting programs, art exhibits, and gaming events. Here is a closer look at some of the upcoming events at the library:
Meet and Greet: Hide and Seek Heroes
Kentucky Bloodhound Search and Rescue (SAR) has partnered with BCPL to present “Meet and Greet: Hide and Seek Heroes” on Saturday, September 21 at 1:00 PM. Come out and meet K9 Sirius, K9 Maze, K9 Maggie, K9 Kinzell, K9 Romeo and their handlers for the ultimate “show and tale” experience!
This program, while directed at youth, is also educational for parents and caregivers. During the program members of the community will have the opportunity to learn what K9 teams from across the state do when it comes to lost and missing persons. You will learn how the dogs are able to work, and steps parents or caregivers need to take in the event of a lost or missing person. After the informational portion, there will be a short Q&A session, after which attendees will have the opportunity to meet and greet some of the local K9s and their handlers as well as receive trading cards and stickers. Parents and caregivers will also be provided with a scent presentation kit and step-by-step instructions in the event their child is lost or missing person. This event will be held in the Youth Department. (All ages/Families)
About SAR: Founded in 2005 Kentucky Bloodhound SAR is made up of volunteers who give their own time, money, and energy to their communities assisting law enforcement and emergency management in locating lost and missing people across the state of Kentucky. Although their name is Kentucky Bloodhound, their team is made up of multiple breeds of dogs and some very special humans. They started with three members and have since grown to having active members all over the state.
BCPL After Dark: Trivia Night
Come show us what you know! On Saturday, September 21 from 6:00-7:30 PM, Trivia Night is coming to the Boyle County Public Library. Work by yourself or with a team to answer questions, win prizes, and have fun! Registration preferred but not required. The registration link is available in the event listing on the library’s website at BoylePubLib.org. This event will be held in the Community Room. (Ages 18+)
Baby Storytime
Join us at the library on Mondays at 10:00 AM for a special storytime for babies and their caregivers, designed to strengthen bonds and give encouragement for playing, reading and growing. Each week Mrs. Rachael will read themed stories and have a sensory activity for babies and their caregivers to enjoy. This event will be held in the Community Room with the books & theme changing each week. (Ages birth-18 months)
YA Creative Club: Scratchboard Art
Join us each week for YA Creative Club, where tweens and teens can create fun crafts and learn new artistic skills while relaxing, eating snacks, and hanging out with other creatives. Each session is suitable for artists and crafters of all skill levels. New and returning members are always welcome! On Tuesday, September 24 from 3:30-5:00 PM, create stunning images and detailed designs using scratchboards. Use engraving tools to scratch through the black ink on the surface to reveal white or rainbow backgrounds underneath. This event will be held in the Tech Area Lounge on the 5th level of the library. (Ages 11-17; Grades 6-12)
