Henry “Dell” Gabbard, 76

Henry “Dell” Gabbard, 76, of Lancaster, passed away Thursday, October 17, 2024 at his home. Dell was born on July 12, 1948 in Jackson County, KY to the late Marvin and Faye Abrams Tapp. Dell graduated from Garrard County High School. He was a police officer for 12 years for the City of Harrodsburg, Kentucky. Dell graduated from Kentucky State University with honors. He also went to Chase Law School for a year. Dell was also a lifelong farmer and was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing. Dell loved the Lord dearly and was a faithful member of Buena Vista Baptist Church, where he was a former deacon. Surviving is his loving wife of 53 years of marriage, Brenda Deshazer Gabbard of Lancaster; three daughters, Melanie Heckman (J.J.) of Lancaster, KY, Angie Gabbard (David) of Lancaster, KY, and Brittany Wise (Josh) of Elizabethtown, KY; a sister, Kay Jackson (Doug) of Lancaster, KY; seven grandchildren, Amelia Wright (Daniel), Curtis Gabbard, Alicia Gabbard, Gracie Gabbard, Liam Wise, Raegan Wise, Addison Wise; and two great grandchildren, Clayton and Thomas. Dell, along with his parents was preceded in death by a brother, Hargus Gabbard and an aunt, Vivian Tapp. Funeral services were 2:00 PM on Monday, October 21, 2024 at Spurlin Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Wayne Braswell officiating. Visitation was 11:00 am until service time. Pallbearers were Josh Wise, J.J. Heckman, David Gabbard, Curtis Gabbard, Liam Wise, Doug Jackson, Daniel Wright, Enrique “Chicken” Gallegos.
