Ruth May Key Brackett, 96, of Danville passed away on Saturday, November 16, 2024, in Lexington. Born July 19, 1928, in Danville, she was the daughter of the late Joe and Beulah Roney Key. Ruth was a life-long member of Junction City First Baptist Church. She loved the Lord, and nothing gave her more joy than teaching and mentoring children about Jesus. She spent her life always checking up on those she had taught. When she passed, she was the oldest member of Junction City First Baptist Church at the time where she attended church and Sunday School regularly. Ruth had worked at American Greeting. She loved cooking and caring for her home, yard, and flowers. Her family and numerous friends meant everything to her. She was always there for everyone, making them feel loved and special. In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Lee Brackett; son, John Lee Brackett; brothers, Howard and Marion Key; and sisters: Maxine Key, Evelyn Blakeman, Erma Clancy, Mazie Patterson, Roseann “Dale” Neddows, and Juanita Terry.Ruth is survived by a son, Thomas Michael “Mick” and wife, Lana Brackett of Springfield; grandchildren, Emily (Joe) Rivas of Lexington and Dean Brackett of Lexington; great grandchildren: Luna, Lilac, Reagan, and Ryan; Martha Crawford Brackett of Mercer County; and nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 1-4 pm, Thursday at Junction City First Baptist Church with a Memorial Service following at 4 pm with Dr. Choe Sergent officiating. Burial will be at Beech Grove Baptist Church.
