Bate Middle School scores “Green” in state assessment

A trio of John W. Bate Middle School successes were recognized during a special-called Danville Board of Education meeting on Nov. 18. The event took place at the school and honored students, staff, and teams for their accomplishments, including the along with the school’s “green” rating from the Kentucky Summative Assessment.
Green Status Achievement
The second year in a row Bate Middle School received “green” status on Kentucky’s Summative Assessment for the 2022-2023 and 2023-2024 school years. During the meeting, the school was presented with a banner recognizing the distinction.
Student and Team Honors
Recognizing Wolfe Kerbaugh for qualifying as a state middle school golfer — a formidable individual achievement.
KYACDA Honor Choir: Josiah Policarpio was recognized for qualifying for the Kentucky chapter of the American Choral Directors Association (KYACDA) Honor Choir, demonstrating his musical talent.
The boys’ and girls’ cross-country teams were recognized for seasons of emphasis. In eight tournaments, the girl’s team took first in seven of them, dominating the Salt River Conference, with numerous students receiving individual medals.
Staff Recognitions
The following is a speech made by Principal Michelle Carver at the awards: “This year we had the opportunity to recognize an outstanding instructional coach and interventionist, Tonia Bireley, for her excellent service to our school and our students. Instructional assistant Esperanza Zavala, who was not in attendance, was also acknowledged for the valuable contributions and years of service she provided to Bate Middle School.
Additional Board Updates
Audit Results: The district received a clean audit, and is continuing to manage finances better than most districts.
Construction Projects — The Central Office roof has been completed, the roof at Danville High School is in progress, and designs were given for Anchor Plaza, an outdoor learning space at DHS.
Athletic Coaches’ Handbook: The board approved a new handbook that consolidates laws and policies for coaches. You can find the document online at Danville schools. net in the “Employment” tab.
