At the headwaters of the Salt River Basin, officials in Boyle County are addressing significant erosion that threatens the stability of Upper Salt River Road. Public Works Director Roger Johnson stated, “The road is still safe for travel; however, we want to repair the erosion before it causes irreversible damage to the roadway.”

The project has received funding of $1,400 from the Kentucky Association of Mitigation Managers to help offset the total cost of $18,375.

Boyle County Judge-Executive Trille Bottom emphasized the project’s importance: “Not only will this mitigation project protect the roadway for residents of Upper Salt River Road, but it will also safeguard those who rely on the Salt River Basin by minimizing disturbances to this valuable watershed. Work will begin this winter to shore up the erosion and stabilize the road.”
