Phyllis Darrell Casey Brogle, 82, wife of Paul Edgington Brogle of 64 plus years, passed from this earthly life on into her eternal life, on Sunday, December 8, 2024 at Baptist Health Hospital, in Lexington KY. She was born October 15, 1942 in Lancaster, Kentucky. She was the daughter of the late William Herbert Casey and Lorena Sebastian Casey. She called upon the Lord Jesus Christ to be her personal Lord and Savior at the age of 12, following a revival service that had been taking place at Freedom Baptist Church. She then followed the Lord in obedience, through the public testimony of baptism, thereby, becoming a member of that local, New Testament Church. She and her parents moved their memberships to Mt Hebron Baptist Church, where she met her future husband, Paul Edgington Brogle. Through the years, she faithfully served the Lord through that church, by being the church pianist alongside her husband, who served as church song leader. She faithfully taught Vacation Bible School, and was a willing participant in any activities that the church hosted or supported. Together, now, they are current members at the Unity Baptist Church in Danville, KY. She was an avid gardener, who specifically had a great love and talent for flower gardening. She worked diligently with her hands, whether she was sewing clothing for her family or herself, gardening, canning fresh garden vegetables, pulling and setting tobacco plants, and being a faithful and good helpmate to her husband as he farmed and made a living for their family. She was a faithful, godly, mother who taught her children and grandchildren by principle and example to be faithful keepers at home, also. She was a prayer warrior on behalf of any, whose burden she shared. She leaves behind to honor her memory, her loving husband, Paul Edgington Brogle, two daughters, Deborah Brogle Korn (Greg), and Susan Brogle Gilliam (Mark). Granddaughters, Kristen Korn Akers (Arnie), Katrina Korn Masters (Shane), Courtney Gilliam Cole (Michael), and grandson Matthew Paul Gilliam. Great grandchildren, Allyson Faith Denton, Justin Slayter Denton, Leah Claire Akers, Benjamin Clay Denton, Lily Cate Akers, Liam Malachi Masters, Naomi Elyse Cole, Blakely Claire Masters, and Simon Vincent Cole. Also surviving, a maternal aunt, Ruby Casey, and a host of sisters and brother-in-laws, cousins, nieces, and nephews. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death, by two stillborn great-grandchildren, Andrew Allen Cole and Daniel Owen Cole. Visitation services will be at Spurlin Funeral Home on Friday, December 13th from 5:00-8:00 PM with family gathering and viewing at 4:00 PM. Funeral services will be on Saturday, December 14th at 1:00 PM with Brother Steve Meece and JT Prewitt officiating. An additional visitation will be from 11:00 AM until the time of service at Mt Hebron Baptist Church. Burial will take place in the Mt Hebron Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers are Bobby Ray Prewitt, Gareth Lane, Greg Korn, Mark Gilliam, Arnie Akers, Shane Masters, Michael Cole, and Matthew Gilliam. Honorary pallbearers are members of the Unity Baptist Church Adult Sunday School Class. www.spurlinfuneralhomelancaster.com
