Lora Jean (May) Thompson, 69, wife to Billy Thompson for 45 years, died peacefully at home on Friday January 31, 2025. She was born on July 22, 1955 in Lebanon, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Steve May and Marguerite Wade May. She was one of seven (7) children and six (6) daughters. She graduated from Marion County High School in 1973. She had a funny sense of humor, liked her dogs and enjoyed pie. She made good chili and, at Christmas, crunch cake. Lora found pleasure in reading and sewing. She owned and operated Pleasure of Pictures, a shop in Danville, Kentucky where she framed pictures and sewed curtains. Later, with her husband, she was the co-owner of Main Street Furniture of Danville. She raised her children in Danville where she will be remembered fondly by countless friends and neighbors.

She was a loving mother to Jason David Thompson (Lauren) of Lexington, Kentucky, and Nicholas Ryan Thompson (Ashley) of Lexington, Kentucky and grandmother to Jude and Finn Thompson. She was preceded in death by grandchildren Jalen and Kaden.

She is survived by her sisters, Brenda Followell (Billy), Genny Mattingly (Joe Allen), Barbara Rucker (Danny – deceased), Linda Crouch (Jackie), and Wanda Hennon (Gordon), and her brother, Jimmy May (Joyce); in-laws, Jackie (Joe Mark) Craig, Elaine Cecil (Jim Bean- deceased), Willard Thompson Jr. (Brenda Kay). She also leaves behind a large extended family including numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 4, 2025 at Bosley Funeral Home, 246 S. Proctor Knott Avenue, Lebanon, Kentucky, presided by Deacon Dennis May. Interment will follow in St. Charles Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 P.M. on Monday February 3, 2025 at Bosley Funeral Home, with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. officiated by Deacon Dennis May.

Pallbearers are Jimmy May, Billy Followell, Joe Allen Mattingly, Jackie Crouch, Troy Rucker, Joe Mark Craig, Willard Thompson Jr., and Timmy Cecil.
