Main Street shut down due to hydraulic fluid leak

Main Street between Third Street and Wilderness Road was  shut down Monday morning due to a garbage truck’s hydraulic fluid leak. Mike Wilder, director of Boyle County Emergency Management said the road will probably be closed until about noon today as a Lexington crew works to soak up and brush off the mess.

Danville Police and Fire Departments received a call about the truck’s leak around 6 a.m. and immediately placed barricades to prevent the spread of the slippery fluid from vehicles’ tires to other streets. An absorbent substance, similar to kitty litter, was poured on the spill, which stretched about a mile down Main Street, Wilder said.

Despite the presence of several emergency vehicles with lights flashing and barricades along intersecting streets, no one was in danger, Wilder said.
