Trinity Episcopal Church is hosting its annual luncheon on Thursday with half of the proceeds donated to Family Services Association of Boyle County.
The luncheon is open to everyone in the community to come and eat a meal and help raise funds for a local organization.
The luncheon is from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church. Tickets for the lunch are $8 in advance or $10 at the door. Tickets can be purchased in advanced at their church office on Main Street. Guests can come and dine in or take their food to-go.
The food provided is homemade and donated by the women in the Episcopal Church Women group. This group chooses every year who receives half of the proceeds from the luncheon. This year, the women have chosen Family Services as the recipient.
“It’s a good organization that helps the community,” ECW member Janet Gordon said. “We always give to the local communities who do good in Danville and Boyle County.”
The church will serve between 150 and 175 people during the luncheon. Last year, they raised at total of $1,600 from the luncheon.
“Hopefully we will do that or better this year,” Gordon said.
The church holds two fundraisers a year, and this one provides fellowship —“eating good food and being together,” Rev. Amy Dafler Meaux said.
“It’s a way of opening the church to the public and serve the community,” Gordon said.
