A 10-mile Relay For Africa event will be held Sunday afternoon in Millennium Park.
The event begins at 4:30 p.m. and will benefit Lexington Avenue Baptist’s African Refugee Ministry in Morocco. It will feature a cookout, kids’ games and awards associated with a 10-mile relay event consisting of four 2.5-mile legs.
There will be four divisions for winners in the relay race — overall, church, organizations and coed (two males and two females) teams.
Each member of the first-, second- or third-place team in each race division will receive awards of blue, red or gold aluminum batons. The first place team in the overall division will win a zebra trophy sculpted by Ulrich Zouanda, an African refugee artist in Morocco.
Cost to register is $60 per team, $40 for a team of two or $20 for an individual. Each team must provide their own baton to pass between team members.
Hot dogs, chips, desserts and drinks will be available during and after the relay event; donations will go to the refugee ministry.
