Comedy Carvan celebrates six years in Danville with new lineup
Comedy Caravan returns to Mallard’s Thursday to celebrate six years of the show locally with Letterman Show veteran, Jeff Caldwell headlining, featured act Tim McClendon, and Nashville comedian Lee Hardin as emcee.
According to Caldwell’s website, he is known to audiences nationwide as a clean, clever comedian with one of the brightest standup acts around, delivering smart, funny jokes on topics ranging from the daily news to the daily grind. A house favorite with six performances behind him on “The Late Show with David Letterman,
” Caldwell has made three appearances on “The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson” and made his Comedy Central debut on “Live at Gotham.” He has appeared with Keith Olbermann, Dennis Miller, on SiriusXM Radio, toured with Jon Stewart, and is a regular on the nationally syndicated “Bob and Tom” radio show.
A former civil and environmental engineer, he also blogs at the Huffington Post, commenting humorously on scientific topics affecting the world today.
McClendon, according to his website, was born a preacher’s kid in a Southern California beach town. When he was 5, his dad started a Christian Camp in the San Bernardino Mountains. Growing up at summer camp gave him a unique outlook on life and the Christian faith. After high school, McClendon graduated from college, got married and started a family. His career began as a successful family pastor. His life seemed fine, but needed the touch of humor God had placed in him growing up at a summer camp. Realizing his childhood dream one day after he had a family of his own, suddenly everything God was calling him to do made sense to him, so he moved his family across the country to continue pursuing his career only this time adding clean comedy to his arsenal.
McClendon’s passion for comedy could not be denied, so he took some training from seasoned stand-up comics. After spending an entire year going to open mic nights and opening for other comics, a booking agency noticed him and started to give him regular work in comedy. Since those beginning years, he’s had the opportunity to headline some of the premiere clubs in the country. He has also worked many corporate and private events.
Hardin is a standup comedian, actor and former cast member of Nashville Improv Company. Since 2013, Hardin has been writing jokes and telling them from the stage. He travels around the country to perform in comedy clubs, churches, colleges and any other stage that allows comedy to happen.
