Two indicted in Boyle for making children live in ‘shed’

A Parksville man and woman have been indicted on charges related to them allegedly having three children live in a shed without running water, electricity or a proper toilet.

Brandi Harmon, 25, and Gregory Wilkerson, 44, both of 1833 Johnson Branch Road in Parksville each face three counts of first-degree criminal abuse for allegedly intentionally placing three minors under the age of 13 in a situation that may cause physical injury.

According to the Boyle County Sheriff’s Office, Wilkerson and Harmon “were found to be living in a ‘shed’ behind the residence with three children” in July.

“Inside the ‘shed’ was found extreme(ly) unfit living conditions, having no running water, no electricity and a bucket containing human feces,” according to a news release from the sheriff’s office.

The three children were taken to Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center for treatment of “extreme rashes and (bed bug) bites,” according to the sheriff’s office.

Bail was set at $20,000 each. Boyle County Deputy Sheriff Casey McCoy testified for the grand jury.
