Vicki Lester Leake

1957-2016

Vicki Lester Leake, 59, of Danville, died Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2016. Born on Sept. 17, 1957 in Danville, she was the daughter of the late G. T. and Aileen Barrick Lester.

Vicki was a 1975 graduate of Boyle County High School and earned her BS in Home Economics at UK. She was given the Betty Crocker Award.

Vicki returned to school and in 1993 earned her BS in Nursing and was inducted into the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society. During this time she taught a year at BCHS, worked at the State Bank in Harrodsburg, was a legal secretary and served as Commonwealth Detective while she earned her RN degree. She worked at Haggin Memorial Hospital as an RN and Director of Nursing until the Central Ky. Surgery Center opened where she was one of the original employees. Vicki retired earlier this year. She was an avid reader and was very involved with the Boyle Co. Republican Party.

She is survived by her husband, Mike Leake; one daughter, Samantha Leake of Danville; one son, James Spencer (Mary) Leake of Lone Tree, Colorado; an uncle, Bobby (Pam) Barrick of Danville; and an aunt, Emma Lee (Reverend William “Bill”) Tolliver of Columbus, Ohio; and several cousins.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 29, 2016, at Centenary United Methodist Church. Reverend Matthew Atha and Reverend Mike Voigt will officiate. Burial will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery, Perryville. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday at Centenary United Methodist Church.
