Work being done to improve Perryville

Dear Editor,

Now that the election is over and on Jan. 20, 2017, the new leaders will take office, the next four years will be interesting. But Boyle County had victory in re-electing state representative Danville B. Elliott as representative in the 54th District. State auditor is Mike Harmon, another Boyle County native who served the district well as state representative. Also, remember that the first governor of the Commonwealth of Kentucky was from Boyle County, Isaac Shelby.

Now let us look at Perryville for a moment. In June, the turtle race benefited Main Street Perryville in the amount of $7,300, which is being used to completely restore Merchant’s Row and it was used to give the former Latimer’s Dry Goods store a new appearance with the help of John and Sylvia Hensley and Kevin Bottoms and his crew. The Hensleys purchased that building.

Main Street Perryville offices have now been moved into the former Park’s Store building. Constant changes are being made that make that area look much better.

The former Boyle House, on the corner of North Bragg and Main Street, is being completely remodeled. That will make the Main Street of Perryville look much better also.

Come to Perryville and see what all is being done to make this tourist attraction more beautiful.
