The investigation into what happened to a 22-year-old Danville woman who went missing in late September and was found dead several days later in an area near Stanford is still ongoing, according to state police.
Desiree Sparks’ body was found on Oct. 1, unclothed, at the end of West Skyline Drive by a group riding four wheelers. She had been missing since Sept. 27, when she was last seen near Citation Drive in Danville.
Officials said they had suspected Sparks was with an unknown male in a dark-colored SUV.
“It’s a death investigation,” said Trooper Robert Purdy with Kentucky State Police.
Purdy said cause of death is not being released at this time, but that the situation is “definitely suspicious.”
An autopsy is being conducted by the Frankfort State Medical Examiner.
KSP is “actively” seeking information on the case, Purdy said.
“Somebody knows something. We’re trying to figure out what actually went on in her death,” he said. “We encourage anyone with information to give us a call.”
Anyone with information is encouraged to the Kentucky State Police Richmond Post at (859) 623-2404.
