Three charged in Danville after stolen gun found in SUV

Three people have been arrested on weapons and drug charges by the Boyle County Sheriff’s Office following a traffic stop where deputies found an allegedly stolen gun.
Xavier L. Brown, Kaelan S. Scharklet and David N. Criswell, all of Danville, were stopped by K9 Deputy Casey McCoy on Main Street between Second and Third streets Tuesday, according to a news released from the sheriff’s office. The three were inside a gold SUV.
“During the stop, Deputy K9 NiKi (drug dog) located marijuana and other paraphernalia inside the vehicle,” the news release reads. “Also found was a 9mm handgun and a sawed-off 20-guage shotgun with a 14-inch barrel. The handgun found to be in Brown’s possession had recently been reported stolen out of Boyle County.”
Brown was charged with tampering with physical evidence, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, receiving stolen property (handgun) and carrying a concealed deadly weapon. Scharklet was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a defaced firearm and carrying a concealed deadly weapon. Criswell was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
