Nancy Horne

1935-2016

Nancy Ann Crain Horne, 81, passed from this life on Thursday, Nov. 24, 2016, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. Nancy was born July 18, 1935, and was the daughter of Tarlton (Tat) Lee Crain and Margaret Baker Crain.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Elizabeth Erma Crain of Danville, and Rosemary Crain Bandy of Nicholasville; and one brother, William G. “Billy” Crain of Perryville.

Survivors include her loving husband of 62 years, Harold Lloyd Horne; three children, Lloyd Allison Horne, Thomas Lee Horne and Rebecca Ann Horne Moore; and brother, David Lee Crain of Mitchellsburg. She was a grandmother of six and great-grandmother of 12.

Nancy attended Eastern Kentucky University prior to starting her career as a teacher in one-room schools. She later taught at both Oil Springs and Porter Elementary schools in Paintsville, Ky.

Nancy was a lifelong member of Rockhouse Freewill Baptist Church in Paintsville.

Services were held Sunday, Nov. 27, 2016 at Rockhouse Freewill Baptist Church. Burial was in Walker-Horne Family Cemetery in Paintsville.
