Boyle County Public Library events this week

The Boyle County Public Library offers many fun, educational events throughout the year. Weekly programs include Crafters Who Care 6 p.m. Mondays, Coding Club 4 p.m. Wednesdays, and Open Chess 4 p.m. Thursdays. In addition to these weekly events, the following Library-sponsored programs are scheduled for this week:
Ornament Workshop for Kids
The library will host an ornament making workshop for kids (ages 4-8) 2 p.m. today. Children will be able to make a variety of ornaments to give as gifts or to add some holiday sparkle to their tree. Registration is required. This event will be held in the Storytime Room.
Around the World with the 2M2 Club
The library offers a variety of book discussion groups each month, including the Reading Around the World: 2nd-Monday-at-2 Book Club (2M2), which meets 2 p.m. on the second Monday of the month in the Mahan House at the library. Selections include fiction and historical fiction books set in locations around the world. On Monday, the group will discuss “The Night Gardener” by Jonathan Auxier. Those interested in participating may register at the Circulation Desk in the Library.
Third Thursday Book Discussion Group
The library offers a variety of book discussion groups each month, including the Third Thursday Book Discussion Group, which meets at the library 10 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. on the third Thursday of the month. This group is designed for anyone interested in discussing a wide variety of books in a group setting. On Thursday, the group will discuss “Ethan Frome” by Edith Wharton. Those interested in participating may pick up a copy of the book at the circulation desk in the library.
Tween Event: Storybook Gingerbread Men
On Thursday, at 4 p.m., the library will host Storybook Gingerbread Men. Tweens (ages 9-13) will decorate gingerbread men to look like their favorite storybook characters. Creativity and an appetite for cookies recommended. Register for this special event in the Children’s Library.
