After Christmas, Boyle County Solid Waste will be collecting Christmas trees for recycling and disposal.
Residents of Boyle County can recycle and dispose of their Christmas trees at the Alum Springs Convenience Center starting Tuesday, Dec. 27, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The convenience center will be collecting trees Tuesday through Saturday of that week, except for holidays, Solid Waste Director Donna Fechter said.
The City of Danville drop-off location will be at the Danville Public Works Garage, located at 547 S. Second St., she said.
According to Fechter, residents with curbside collection or private trash pickup must cut trees in 3-foot sections. Once they have been cut, the trees should be placed along the curb on regular scheduled trash days.
All lights, tinsel, garland, ornaments and tree stands must be removed before disposal. Trees that still have these items on them will not be collected by solid waste.
Those who want to dispose of artificial trees must take them to the convenience centers, or the trees can be cut into three sections and placed on the curb on regular trash days, Fechter said.
Proof of Boyle County residency will be required to dispose of a tree at a convenience center.
