Classes

Beginner Yoga Class — 7 p.m. Tuesdays at the Garrard County Extension Service office. The class is an hour long and on-going. Students are asked to supply their own mat and bring a few small blankets or bath size towels. Cost is $5 per class. Body Recall — 9-10 a.m. Monday, Wednesday through Nov. 16 at First Christian Church, 555 E. Lexington Ave. Fee is $6 per week. Danville-Boyle County Adult Education Learning Center — Open 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday through Thursday at 59 Corporate Drive, room 105. Representatives from Commonwealth Cancer Center, 21st Century Radiation Oncology and Ephraim McDowell Cancer Support Clinic are teaming to offer the all-inclusive support group, designed for anyone whose lives have been affected by cancer. Caregivers Coffee Club — beginning 10 a.m. Tuesday (third Tuesday each month) at the Danville-Boyle County Senior Citizens. Will meet monthly at 569 Jean Drive. The new group was formed in response to the growing need for support for local caregivers. All caregivers are welcome to attend, meet others and share thoughts on how the community can be more supportive. The Senior Citizen’s Adult Day Care offers care for family members who require it to enable caregivers to attend the Caregivers get-togethers. Diabetes Support Group — 11 a.m. first Thursday each month in the basement conference room of the Lincoln County Health Department. The support group is offered by the health department’s Diabetes Education Program for those interested in learning more about Diabetes Care and management. There is an educational topic each month related to diabetes care and management. This is a free support group and anyone is welcome to attend. Lewy Body Dementia Caregiver Support Group of the Bluegrass — 6-8 p.m. first Tuesday each month at Sayre Christian Village, at Belleau Wood Drive and Camelot off Man-o-War in Lexington. Lewy Body Dementia is frequently misdiagnosed as Alzheimer’s or Parkinson’s Disease. Most patients receive three or more other diagnosis before being diagnosed with LBD. If you are caring for someone with LBD or know someone who has been diagnosed, you are invited to join a group of caregivers and share information on resources, care, treatment and just to feel like you are not alone.
