The Danville-Boyle County Parks and Rec board has approved a fence for the new volleyball court in Millennium Park.

The board chose an eight-foot-tall green fence option from Akers Fence at a price of $9,590.

As discussed at a previous meeting, it was decided a fence was needed in order to keep the balls in and other things out.

“You have to fence,” board member Heather Wheeler previously said. “If you don’t fence, you can’t protect it, you can’t keep things out and you can’t keep the balls in. You’re not going to be able to keep all the critters out, but you will keep a majority of them from coming in.”

At Wednesday’s meeting, the board mentioned the issue of keeping cats out of the “litter box.”

It was discussed that regardless of what kind of fence was placed around the court, there isn’t anything that is going to necessarily keep cats and other critters out of the court.
