At 6:50 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 19, Danville Police responded to the intersection of the North Danville Bypass and Ky. 2168 for reports of an injury traffic collision that had occurred. 

A 2005 Chrysler, driven by Barbara Sparks, 63, of Harrodsburg, was traveling northbound on the bypass when she collided with a 2005 Buick, driven by Beverly Downs, 63, of Bardstown, in the intersection.  Emergency crews treated Sparks on scene and later transported her via ground ambulance to Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center for further treatment.  The extent of her injuries were not known at press time.  

As a result of the collision, the northbound lanes of the bypass were shut down for nearly an hour while emergency crews cleared the scene. Officer Luke Hughes is the investigating officer.

At 4:20 p.m. Friday, Jan. 20, Danville Police responded to the intersection of the North Danville Bypass and Man-o-War Boulevard for reports of an injury traffic collision that had occurred.  Danville City Fire and Boyle County EMS also responded to assist. 

A 2004 Ford Explorer, driven by Anthony Rousey, 39, of Lancaster, was traveling northbound on the bypass when he struck a 2007 Chevrolet Canyon, driven by Michael Stratton, 43, of Danville, who was stopped at the intersection of Man-o-War Boulevard. Both Rousey and Stratton were treated on scene by emergency crews.  Stratton was later transported via ground ambulance to Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center for further treatment.  The extent of his injuries were not known at press time.  Officer Toney Dollins is the investigating officer.

On Saturday, Jan. 21, Danville Police attempted to stop a motorcycle, operated by Kerry S. Naylor, 36, of Danville, for reckless driving and speeding on Main Street. Upon officers initiating their emergency equipment, Naylor refused to stop and began to evade officers. 

During his attempt to evade officers, Naylor left the roadway and began to drive his motorcycle on a sidewalk on Lexington Road. Once Naylor reached the end of the sidewalk, his motorcycle struck an officer’s cruiser, thus ending the incident.

Naylor was arrested and lodged in the Boyle County Detention Center

charged with fleeing and evading; operating a motor vehicle under influence of alcohol/drugs, with aggravating circumstances; five counts of wanton endangerment; possession of marijuana; criminal mischief; disorderly conduct; resisting arrest; reckless driving; operating a vehicle with an expired license; five counts of disregarding a stop sign; five counts of disregarding traffic control devise; speeding; and failure to maintain required insurance. No mugshot was available for Naylor at press time.
